In the last few years we have seen every now and then fashion designers moving from nature to take inspiration for their collections and textile designers trying to create experimental materials together with synthetic biologists.
At this stage we can't say yet if the future of design will be in the hands of biotechnologists or even biohackers, but designing innovative pieces of art, architecture and fashion taking inspiration from nature or hacking nature to find solutions for current problems like food shortages are intriguing topics.
If you're interested in such themes and in particular in how nature can be an inexhaustible source of inspiration for designers, tomorrow's seminar organised by UCM and by the MAD (Mode And Design) centre in Brussels, may be perfect for you.
Entitled “Lorsque la nature inspire le design”, the event will take the participants on a discovery journey and show them through real objects how biomimicry can help differentiating one's work on the design market while reducing the environmental footprint.
