Macau-based Lines Lab and their projects set to bridge the gap between art, fashion, architecture and design already appeared a while back on this site. Today they deserve a new space since they will be presenting soon a new collection at a special event - "Paper Create" - taking place at Beijing's Gehua Tower in Dongcheng District during Beijing Design Week (from 29th September to 10th October 2012).
Entitled "Paper 4 Fashion", Lines Lab's brand new experimental designs are part of an ongoing research process that explores the relations between Paper and Fabrics. For this collection Lines Lab experimented with Tyvek and, using laser cut techniques, drew detailed floral patterns based on traditional wallpaper designs.
As stated earlier on, the collection will be presented during the "Paper Create" event, an exhibition about paper starting on 25th Seprember, organised by the Beijing Gehua Cultural Center
Co., Ltd. and the Beijing Branch of Shanghai JHT Creation and Design
Development Co., and curated by Lin Pansong, Fan Ke, Hu Yuming.
Paper has strong connections with China, but I'm curious to see how Lines Lab will reinterpret traditions and if the duo are going to experiment in their creations with dichotomic themes such as heavy/light, thick/thin and visible/invisible.

I hope that the experiment will create more good stuff out there.

Sometimes I just wonder who wears these dresses. I wouldn't be confident enough to be pulling something like that off, maybe someone lady gaga could but not me. And certainy not many people would be able to as well.
